I live on a farm, and one of my jobs is mowing the lawns. It is one of my favorite things to do here because I love being out in the sunshine, the lawns look great when I am done, and most of all, because I love my mower. It takes about 3 hours, so I have quite a bit of time to think while I ride along. Think, and pray. Prayer is one of the greatest blessings God gives to His children. I depend upon it. I can’t imagine dealing with my day to day without it, and I’m sure you agree.
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father,” Paul said in Ephesians 3:14. Isn’t that a beautiful description of prayer? The more I think about it, the more I realize the depth of truth that is in this little statement.
For this cause….and for this one, and this one, and that one, and …..the list just goes on and on. It is wonderful that God hears all of our “causes” and cares about them as we do. We don’t have to worry about our cause being too small for Him to listen. We don’t have to worry that our cause will be too big for Him to handle. Our God is all loving and all powerful, and everything in between. So, bring all your causes to Him and see what He will do with them.
For this cause, I bow my knees…..When we bow at the throne of grace, we show our humble place before a mighty God. Sometimes we bow in surrender to His will. Sometimes we bow under the weight of our deep need. But no matter what has brought us to our knees, we bow in faith, knowing that our God is loving, merciful, and kind. He will hear us. He will answer us. He will do what is best and right for us. Because He is our Father.
For this cause, I bow my knees unto the Father. This may be my favorite name for God. He is the ultimate God in power and holiness, but He is also my Shepherd, Friend, and Father. Wonderful, isn’t it? When I have a problem or a need, I can turn to many different people who will hear my cause and offer advice. But I usually find that others don’t quite understand, they don’t always have good advice, and they certainly can’t help me out very well. When I turn to the Lord, however, and bring my cause to the Father, then I start to get answers. He is my Heavenly Father and cares for every cause that I have. He hears me and understands completely. And He answers each request so faithfully.
For this cause,
I bow my knees
Unto the Father.
And so can you.
